Al Robbins Chapter

(Bakersfield)

Below are some pics from this month's monthly meeting when Andrew Adams (our chapter's Master-of-Arms) gave his presentation on Reptile Diseases and How to Administer Medication. His presentation included the importance of guaranteeing new herps and measures on how to keep from cross contaminating collections. He also covered how to do a fecal float and how to monitor the health of each animal by logging their weights with their feeding records.

Here are a number of pics that John Reinsch took at CALM (California Living Museum) on Saturday May 16th.

The Al Robbins Chapter of the South Western Herpetologists Society was present at the 26th Birthday Celebration of the California Living Museum this Saturday. We ended up setting up outside the reptile house where I worked as one of two herpetologists from 1985 to 1990. We ended up having to move our display and herps throughout the heat of the day to escape the sun's ever moving rays, but we still had fun.

Paula (Tortuga) our chapters’ secretary/treasurer, and another member (Pablo) helped setup and greet the public!

Lots of kids attended the event and loved having an opportunity to learn about and touch many of the herps we brought.

Cuddles, Paula's (Tortuga's) Red-tail Boa was real thirsty so this little girl gave her a sip of her soda!

While there I had the opportunity to photograph many of the wild flowers in bloom including many of the different cacti.

One of the most enjoyable moments of the day was being able to photograph this Peregrine Falcon.
